My role as the school counselor is to help our students in three areas: learning to learn (study skills), learning to work (careers), and learning to live (social skills, problem solving, anger management, etc.) As part of working toward this goal, I teach lessons each week to each grade level. I see third grade classes one week, fourth grade classes one week, and fifth grade classes one week. I then repeat this rotation. I adhere to the Alabama Plan for Guidance. In addition to guidance lessons, I lead small groups (i.e. divorce, grief, anger management, etc.) and I see students on an individual basis.
